International

From the outset, the Institut Universitaire Professionnalisé "Management and Business Administration at the University of Auvergne - Clermont 1 has paid significant attention to international relations. This wish has 3 aspects:
The most visible aspect is the obligation for students to stay a minimum of 4 months abroad, whether as an internship in a company or in a university study programme. As a consequence IUP integrates into its schedule two compulsory foreign languages with the possibility of adding a third on a voluntary basis,
• the range of languages offered to students: English, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian and Romanian.

Each year, nearly 200 students go abroad for a period that can vary between 4 to 6 months.
Besides this time abroad, many other elements can be quoted to illustrate the international environment: invited academics from foreign universities, contents of some modules, field activities relating to developments in the European markets.

A partnership with foreign universities
I.U.P. has signed agreements with many foreign universities in :
• European Union (Salford University, the University of Salerno…)
• Central and Eastern Europe (University Francis Skorina in Gomel, the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest, the National University of Economics and Trade… Kiev)
• The North American continent (the University of Oklahoma, Emporia State University, Sam Houston State University, Drake University, Northeastern Illinois University, Grand Valley State University…).
The Institute hosts every year many students either within the framework of European programmes, or within the framework of bilateral agreements. In return, many students of IUP attend classes related to their studies at these partner universities or do their internship with the business partners of the latter.

Distance Learning

Since September 2002, IUP has been developing a distance learning system through its elearning platform developed by IUP’s own teachers.

It enables to provide various training modules through videoconferencing or video, the practical exercises are online.

In addition, discussion forums and mail boxes allow students to interact with their teachers and with each other.

I.U.P. enables students of I.E.S.N. Namur (Belgium High School) to prepare MASTER 1 (1st year)
« Economie, Gestion, Management », mention « Sciences et Métiers de la Gestion » spécialité « Management » ". This training is offered for one year or two years.

Thanks to the new information and communication technologies, these students can follow in Namur their training “live”. Specifically, two to three times per week they attend classes given by French teachers in Clermont.

This new training device initially tested at the site of Namur, Belgium, is common on other foreign IUP sites where delocated training programmes are offered.

You can download the PowerPoint presentation of distance learning for more information.

Central and Eastern Europe training programmesAt the request of a number of universities in the countries of central and eastern Europe and of French companies developing in these countries, IUP has relocated, training programs on a number of sites in partnership with state universities:
• Gomel in Belarus since 1995 with the University Francis Skorina
• Cluj-Napoca in Romania since 1999 with the University Babes - Bolyai
• Bucharest in Romania since 2000 with the Academy of Economic Studies
• Kiev in Ukraine since 2000 with the National University of Trade and Economy
• Constanta in Romania since February 2006 with the University Ovidius
• Timisoara in Romania since October 2006 with the University of West
• Moscow in Russia since October 2006 with the State University of Economics, Statistics and Informatics of Moscow (MESI)
• Bucharest in Romania since October 2006 with the Polytechnic University

Students get a dual registration, in their home university and at the University of Auvergne - Clermont 1. They can simultaneously prepare two diplomas: a national and a French one. Currently IUP has about 600 students in the various programs relocated abroad.

Given its geographical position, every training program is administratively attached to the home University. Given its francophone character and the nature of the degrees awarded (French State diplomas) it is pedagogically co-managed by the University of Auvergne - Clermont 1 and the host University. Each training programme is run by two co-directors, assisted by an advisory board.

Master Doctorate Degree (LMD)
As part of these training programs and the new LMD organisation (Doctorate Degree Master), the IUP has offered since 2005:
• DUMA 1, DUMA 2 : 1 or 2 preparatory years for learning the French language and basic notions of Management (University Degrees' "Assistant Manager level 1 or level 2).
